There have been fears of fascism creeping openly into the United States. Some even feel it is here with the plutocratic and corporate influence of the one percent in this nation. People should be watchful for this development. Timothy Snyder wrote a book that has been recommended on this blog called On Tyranny. Other books called The Plot to Steal the White House and Voices of Protest are non fictional accounts of segments of our ruling class openly flirting with fascism. Democracy is a fragile system where if people can get disenchanted with it if perpetual gridlock occurs like how the Republicans obstructed the Obama Presidency. People will turn to the strong man who claims to have the solutions and the might to break through the impasses and deliver the goods. That is what Lenin said. That is what Mussolini said. That is what Hitler said. We need to make sure there are no more false prophets getting as far as them.
