With all the Republican assaults on the Affordable Care Act the last several years, maybe it is time for a phased in program where people can buy into Medicare or Medicaid depending on their age and income. Several progressive leaders have put forth proposals on how to accomplish it. Maybe now is the time to run on it, compare the proposals, forge a unified universal healthcare option, campaign on it, and do not look back.
