For decades people mistakenly credited French Queen Marie Antoinette with the phrase "Let Them Eat Cake." While that was a comment created by French Englightenment philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau, the comment stuck because of the perception of the Queen's insensitivity to the needs of the starving people in France.
Fast forward to 2018 and historians will be debating if Melania Trump has had a "Marie Antoinette" moment by wearing a jacket with "I don't care," written on the back of it as she was journeying to a detention center in Texas where children of "illegal immigrants" are being separated from their parents. Whether the First Lady really does not care or is trying to "stick it" to her husband for bad behavior or this was a horrible oversight that her incompetent staff did not stop before the cameras and film crews were focused on her as she entered and left Air Force One is anyones guess.
It sends the wrong message to our people and the First Lady (who has made appropriate remarks in these situations before) and her staff should know better.
