WE SHALL OVERCOME

This has happened before in the United States and we overcame.

There have been earlier periods in our history when people in this country have had fear and prejudice towards "the other" be it groups like the Irish, the Africans, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Italians, the Jews, or even the groups that have been on this land before us like the Hispanics and Native Americans.

We have mostly Overcame those fears and prejudices and we will do so again.

There have been earlier periods in our history when we had to deal with the rants and ravings of demagogues, opportunists, genuine witch hunters, racist predators, rabid isolationists, and reactionary fundamentalists that looked to stifle progress, science, education, tolerance, enlightenment, and keep us in the Dark Ages of Ignorance.

We have mostly Overcome these fanatics and we will do so again.

There have been earlier periods in our history when our public servants cared more for the affluent than those in needs.

We have overcome these tendencies before and we will do so again.

Everyone needs to take comfort in the fact that we have smelled the stench that President Trump and his supporters (in and outside the United States) exude and all they represent before in history. It has been fought with and defeated before and it will be again.
