Idea of the Week: Again, a good defense is a good offense.

There is a justifiable annoyance with some Democrats who are afraid of Republicans connecting them with their leader Nancy Pelosi. As has been noted on this blog and by other columnists like Paul Krugman (see link below), the current and three previous Republican Speakers of the House cannot compare to Ms. Pelosi who has demonstrated leadership strength, legislative prowess, fundraising magnetism, and strong character. Newt Gingrich, Dennis Hastert, John Boehner, and Paul Ryan have not shown strengths in all of these areas and the first two are individuals who represent the worst parts of humanity while Mr. Boehner and Mr. Ryan lack the leadership strength and legislative prowess. Where are the Democratic ads attacking this string of insults to public service? Where are the ads attacking obstructionist in chief, supreme court seat thief, and potential traitor Mitch McConnell? A good defense is a good offense and to cower on attacks towards Ms. Pelosi shows a wimpiness in some Democrats whose ranks do not deserve leadership positions should they come available if the former Speaker decides to retire. There is a habit among families and teams that you stick together through thick and thin and take care of any issues internally. Democrats need to do that and they need to turn their energies towards attacking the people who are destroying this country so we can win in 2018, 2020 and beyond.
