Do not confuse nationalism with what the KKK candidate believes

Nationalism/ Patriotism is the love of one's country or the quest to secure a home for one's people. It is not the sick cancer of beliefs that the KKK candidate and his domestic and global allies believe. You can be a nationalist and love your country and still embrace globalism and supranationalism and all it has to offer. They are not mutually exclusive. Being a nationalist does not mean you have to be ethnocentric and think your group is better than all the other "tribes" of cultures. Being a nationalist does not mean you embrace fascist demagogies who shout "nationalist" slogans and platitudes while practicing totalitarian tactics to contain dissent and diversity among the populace. Loving one's country and having a home for your own people does not mean demeaning, hating or shunning others within its boundaries.  What makes our country (other democracies) great is that we welcome many from different cultures into the melting pot that fulfills the dream that is America. Celebrating Veterans Day, it should be remembered that is one of the many virtues of our country veterans have been fighting and dying for since the founding of our nation.
