Idea of the Week: A Tax Plan that actually moves the country forward

The tax plan that is moving through Congress may give the economy a sugar rush but will not have a long-term positive effect on our country. Congress would have been better off increasing items like the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit (more than what is being discussed), research tax credits, college tuition tax credits, and alternative energy tax credits. These ideas have been mentioned before but this along with setting up pretax funded IRA's for children at birth would do more for the economy than the cuts being considered.
