Idea of the Week: Reforming High School Social Studies

This weeks Idea of the Week is to have high schools reform its Social Studies requirements to include four years of history, one year of cultural geography, one year of government and economics, one year of philosophy and ethics,  and one year of service learning.

The ignorance of this President and the willing complicity and blind obedience of his less than informed loyal followers only reinforce the need that our people are historically literate, culturally tolerant, active citizens, and ethically wise.

While the other core subjects of English, Math, and Science are tremendously important as are the Arts, Physical Education, and Career Apprenticeships, we should not forget our past. It is the foundations we use to build for tomorrow.
