The Republican Party made a pact with the devil in the 1960's when it opened its doors to racially charged Racist Democrats in order to increase its influence in the South. The Presidential aspirations of George Wallace and Richard Nixon delayed the total transformation for a little while but by the second (or third depending on how you feel historically about 1968) campaign of Ronald Reagan (who launched his campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi: that bastion of civil rights where three volunteers were brutally murdered in the 1960's), the road to hell was pretty much paved for the GOP. In today's Republican Party, there are no more Bob Doles or Howard Bakers or Arthur Vandenburgs. Heck, there are no more Gerald Fords or Dwight Eisenhowers. Today, Barry Goldwater and George H.W. Bush (maybe even Nixon and Reagan) would be considered Democrats (second time for Reagan). What we have in today's Republican Party are opportunists, corrupt bureaucrats and hypocrites like Newt Gingrich, Richard Armey, and Tom Delay. We have obstructionists and borderline (following in Nixon's footsteps) traitors like Mitch McConnell. We have intellectual frauds like Paul Ryan. We have incompetent stewards like George W. Bush and Donald Trump. We have racist demagogues like the late Strom Thurmond (who had a daughter with his African American servant), the late Jessie Helms, and the current let us execute the Central Park Five, (even though they are innocent), occupant of the White House. We even have sexual predators like Dennis Hastert. The Republican Party has been dying for a long time. Donald Trump, the candidate of the KKK and electoral college fluke, is just accelerating the pace.
