Why is the President proposing cuts in railways and other forms of transportation when we so desperately need funds to rebuild our nations crumbling infrastructure and take it into the Twenty-First Century. People are dying in places like Florida when bridges collapse. This happened in Minnesota years ago as well. It appears the Russians (and probably others) can hack into our power grids. Where is the "Eisenhower" type response like when the country found out the Russians had launched Sputnik into space? Barrack Obama invested a lot in infrastructure as President and asked for billions more. The Republicans in Congress stalled. The current President claims to want to rebuild the country. The plans he has outlined (barely) has not been put on the fast track by the leaders of his own party in Congress. While they procrastinate and whine about the size of government while preaching the virtues of tax cuts for corporate stock buybacks, the countries roads, railways, bridges, shipping and air traffic and power systems are decaying and breaking down, compromising our safety, endangering our country, and jeopardizing our economic viability as a great power. Soon, we will not be the indispensable nation anymore as people look to capitals in Berlin and Beijing for new power and economic alliances. How is the attitude and policy prescriptions of the President and his allies making our country great again?
