How are things in Trump World?

How are things in Trump World?

Let's take one issue at a time.

Tax Cuts: Have they had an impact yet for the average American? They have not. They have not influenced economic growth yet. Are they paying for themselves? No on that as well. They people positively affected by them so far have been few. Do not just believe economists Robert Reich or Paul Krugman who have said so. Believe Republican Senator Marco Rubio who made that comment recently. Could this change? Absolutely. Is it likely? Time will tell. People should not confuse any short-term economic jolts with good stewardship of the nation's economy.

Jobs and the Economy: The Economy and Job Markets have been steady but this has been the result of the policies and programs President Obama presided over that continued into the Trump Administration. The President and his team deserve little credit for this.

Deregulation: Businesses applaud the push to deregulate the private and public sectors. A Vox article below relays that is the only reason Scott Pruitt is still the Environmental Protection Agency Director. That written future generations may find these policies short-sighted if there are long-term health and environmental consequences to people and the planet.

Health Care Costs: Well the good news is the government is still subsidizing the health care costs for people's plans if they qualify. The bad news is that with the individual mandate gone, those costs have gone up and both the government and individuals have been stuck with the higher bill. So much for health care that was cheaper and better for all.

Gas Prices: Are going up but maybe the people with their tax cuts could afford that now.

How is trust in our Government and its ability to function? Is this a trick question?  We have a President who has lied or made misstatements 3,001 times in 466 days (since he was sworn in). That is six times a day. The cabinet is filled with the worst and the dumbest who commit unethical offenses like it is the standard operating procedure. The Presidents aides have been found to question his mental capabilities calling him a "moron" and an "idiot." Reactionary Judges, thanks to the loss of the filibuster for nominees, are slipping through to the bench. Reactionary Congressional Representatives are threatening to impeach the Deputy Attorney General for doing his job. The Special Counsel has indicted and negotiated plea deals with several of the Presidents men and has prepared a list of questions for the President that may either expose him to obstruction of justice or perjury charges or both.

So the question again is How are things in Trump World? Hopefully, the supporters of the Progressive agenda will not lose their enthusiasm. The Midterm elections in November are six months away and the 2020 Presidential Election is in two years and six months. No one who loves this country can be complacent.
