Congratulations to the Democratic House for passing Background Check Legislation on Weapons Purchases. Unfortunately the Senate will probably not take it up and the Popular Vote Loser has vowed to veto it. More proof we need a filibuster proof Democratically controlled Senate and a Democrat in the White House in 2021

More good news with Jared Kushner

If Donald Trump said Michael Cohen lied about everything except the collusion part, then the popular vote loser confessed to spousal abuse because Mr. Cohen said he (Trump) did not do it. If collusion was the only thing, according to the KKK endorsed candidate, that was not a lie, then he just admitted he hit his wife.

So Much for the Art of the Deal. To be fair, it was probably the right thing to do.

This insult to public service needs to be censured by his colleagues in the House and the people in his district need to vote him out in 2020. What a vile and despicable human being.

After watching CNN and MSNBC this evening, one should wonder why the Popular Vote Loser praises the Communist Chairman of North Korea and the Communist President of the People Republic of China while rebuking the Social Democratic policy prescriptions of Democratic/Progressive Presidential Candidates. One should wonder.

Interesting commentary by EJ Dionne below. Nelson Rockefeller was a prophet. Here is another person that could have been a good President (although Johnson and Humphrey were and would have better) had extremists in his party not rebelled against him in 1964 and 1968.

Rust Belt or Sun Belt. Pragmatic Progressivism or Socialism. Centrism or Liberalism: How about all of the above. In order to become a national party that thrives in all parts of the country, Democrats need to unite and devise a program that appeals to all parts of the nation. This program should include the liberal and social democratic goals of affordable Pre K through Graduate Education, shifting from fossil to clean energy, universal health care, universal child care, free and fair trade, paid family leave, stabilizing and expanding Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid, a living wage for everyone, and restoring fiscal and global management stability. These can be done through pragmatic progressive means. Take education for example. You can achieve affordable education through increases in child. hope scholarship and earned income tax credits, increases in the minimum wage, increases in pell grants, and free two year college tuition as well as publicly funding state universities and regulating their tuition rate hikes. Or health care. Stabilize and expand the Affordable Care Act. Expand Medicaid. Extend Medicare to those with catastrophic health conditions and to age 55, and have the government negotiate drug prices. As Bill Clinton once said, there is nothing that is wrong with America that cannot be fixed with what is right with America. There is no need to pick one region over another to campaign in. There is no one philosophy to solely embrace. It is time for the Democrats and Progressives to unite and get the job done.

Events in Israel and Britain are eerily similar to what is happening in this country. We need to get away from right wing reactionism, flirtations with nativism, and austerity measures that disproportionately hurt the middle and lower classes.

MUST READ ON THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY AND WHY WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT.

https://theglobepost.com/2019/02/19/importance-of-history/

This is the United States. What is this that the number of homeless students are rising. We need new public servants in the ruling class if the current crop cannot do the basics and take care of our most vulnerable and that includes the nations children.

To students of history, this should not be a surprise. During World War Two and before, Anti Semitism was rampant in this part of the world. Unfortunately, right wing populist forces like Putinism and Trumpism have resurrected these ancient hatreds. Damn them and those who have stoked these animosities.
