We can build on this together.

A bipartisan proposal to reform the health care system has hit the presses and it has a lot to recommend it. The first of which is it will stabilize the markets. The second is it proves it is possible for Democrats and Republicans to work together for the good or our citizens. Let us hope leadership strongly considers this bill. Is it everything progressives could want? Of course not. Like the recent Democrat "Better Deal" proposal, it is something that could stop the anxiety and it can serve as a stepping stone to build on further initiatives in health care and other areas like the living wage, the environment, and college tuition.

Saving our planet

We need to save our planet. Recent conclusions from the scientific community predict that mass extinctions may be on the horizon and our planet's temperature may rise two degrees by the year 2100. Previous posts have highlighted the efforts around the world, cities, and states in this country, and individuals to combat global warming. The debate about what is causing this should be over. Nevertheless, even if there is disagreement about the cause, there should be no deviation on the strategies needed to save our planet.
