Hurrah for Arizona and the power of the Citizen Initiative.

Today, advocates for Invest in Ed (270,000), Clean Energy for a Healthy Arizona (480,000) and Outlaw Dirty Money (285,000) submitted signatures to put initiatives on the ballot that would:

* Raise taxes on the wealthy to help fund public education

* Promote clean energy resource development

* Make the identity of campaign donation donors public.

Although the road is still long as the ballots need to be verified (only 150,000 signatures were needed), the campaigning and election has to take place, and possible legal action by enemies of democracy undertaken, the people have reason to celebrate as they have shown that despite roadblocks thrown at them from the Koch backed reactionary Republican Governor and Legislature, the power of Democracy is a force that can not be defeated in the long run.

Congratulations to the Initiative leaders and those who worked every day to ensure that the number of signatures was secured.
