We will Get through this together.

Over the last week, horrific and disturbed men shook this nation. One repulsive individual shot two African Americans in Louisville. One stirred us by mailing pipe bombs to Democrats (including two former Presidents and the 2016 Presidential popular vote winner) and critics of the KKK endorsed candidate. The other shocked us by attacking a synagogue in Pittsburgh, killing 11 innocent people. Both men were motivated by fringe conspiracy theories and extreme nativist and xenophobic behavior coaxed in part by personalities in the media and political arenas that prey and play on such paranoia for ratings and support. We must combat this fringe and never let it gain the upper hand. The forces of reaction, opportunism, and darkness will never win if we stay together and believe that the American Dream which includes inclusiveness and tolerance for all applies to all without exception. To the people who have lost loved ones today, our deepest sympathies. The country is with you. Know that you are not alone in this difficult time and we will get through this together.
