2020 is not far away. Know the person you want to be the Democratic Nominee.

Over the next several months many fine public servants will announce their intention to run for the Democratic nomination for President. Some of them are names you are familiar with. Others are not. History does not give a recipe on which group will produce the nominee. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were not household names when they ran in 1976 and 1992. Alternatively, Al Gore and Hillary Clinton were when they achieved the parties nomination. What voters need to consider when these individuals run and ask for their vote is which one best represents what being a Democrat is and whether that person best embodies the values we associate with being from the Democratic Party. That should be one of the major criteria in selecting a nominee. Voters also need to research where the candidate stands on the issues and their ability to unite the party and govern either in a bipartisan fashion or when faced with obstructionism from the other side. Many of the people who decide to run will fit these criteria and voters will need to decide who the best candidate is that can defeat the KKK endorsed candidate.  Fortunately, there are many that Democrats can choose from that would be a good steward to move our nation forward.

The below clip from the show West Wing perfectly captures what people should be looking for.
