Join us at the Arizona Resistance Rally
Hosted by the Puente Human Rights Movement
We want to send a very clear message that we will not pardon white supremacy the way the president has done so with #Charlottesville and now with Joe #Arpaio. There is talk that he plans to pardon the former sheriff. Show up and tell him he is not welcome and that we will never pardon white supremacy!

What Judy & Mickey are Doing Tomorrow
Judy invites you to meet her Tuesday at 4:30 pm at the CASE office in the UCFW building, 2410 N. Central. They're a grassroots organization working to register 200,000 new voters before 2018. We'll be joining them for a short training (and pizza) before taking the light rail downtown to join the rally by 6. We won't be registering voters at this rally, but will be giving folks information on how they can help do that. Text or call Judy at (602) 769-5149to let her know you want to join her.If you want to carpool with me, bring your signs and meet me in front of the Dollar store on the southwest corner of 7th St and Thunderbird at 3:45 pm. We'll leave promptly at 3:55 pm.
Mickey will be joining the #NeverAgain: Jews and Allies Against Hate Rallyand march that begins at the Capitol on Tuesday at 3:30 pm. At 5 pm, they will march to the Phoenix Convention Center to join the rally. Text or call Mickey at (602) 318-5236 to meet up with her at the Arizona Capitol, 1700 W. Washington at 3:30 pm.
Want to Carpool?
If you want to carpool, call or text contact Susan Schesnol ((336) 215-7777) who's organizing a carpool to let her know you'll meet her in the parking lot outside Chompie's on the east side of Paradise Valley mall before 4:30. Her group will carpool to the main Burton Barr library just south of McDowell, and then take the light rail down to as close as the Convention Center as you can get. There are light rail stops at Central & Van Buren, and then on Washington going east from Central Ave. You may have to walk a few blocks.OR, go to our Desert Progressives Facebook page, name a central location, and carpool from there.
We strongly suggest meeting at a light rail station and taking that down to the rally. (Police are estimating they'll be closing roads around the Convention Center around 2 pm.) There are light rail stops at Central & Van Buren, and then on Washington going east from Central Ave. You may have to walk a few blocks.
A Big Thank You to You All! We DID it!
Celebrate with Save Our Schools!
Did you hear?! The Secretary of State's office concluded that Save Our Schools Arizona has turned in 108,224 qualifying signatures (That means 97% of the signatures we gathered were valid. That's INCREDIBLE!)This is huge news, despite American Federation for Children (DeVos) and Americans for Prosperity (Koch) every attempt to undermine due process and throw dozens of legal proceedings our way - we did it.
The petitions are now off to the next step - the County Recorder's office where county election officials will review signatures against voter registration rolls to ensure they are from qualified voters; those that are not will be discarded. We can still can afford to lose about 30 percent.
While there is still much work to be done we absolutely cannot forget that this was all made possible by the hard work of each and every volunteer. A heartfelt thank you to all who participated!
