Idea of the Week: Full Campaign Contribution Disclosure: NO MORE DARK MONEY
We can not have a democracy if wealthy individuals, corporations, or lobbying interests contribute to campaigns and candidates do not have to reveal who they are. Public Servants who profess to serve the people need to pass laws requiring full disclosure. In Arizona for example, the state government nullified a law the city of Tempe passed that ensured such a requirement. The individuals that sponsored that measure (led by State Representative Vince Leach and signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey) are not serving the public good by maintaining that Dark Money is reasonable. These individuals do not deserve another term in government and a ballot initiative calling for the outlawing of "Dirty" Dark Money needs to be approved by the voters. By getting rid of these individuals and passing the measure outlawing these donations, the cause for open democracy is furthered as candidates will be required to fully disclose where they received their campaign donations.
