Is it worth it to withdraw support for Senator Joe Manchin in West Virginia? Maybe

Democrats in West Virginia may have some soul searching to do with regards to continuing to support Joe Manchin as he seeks re-election to the Senate. There is the practical argument of numbers provided he decides to remain a Democrat if he survives reelection. There is also something to be said about sending a message that people who vote for perjurers and accused sexual assaulters are not worthy of people's support. The time is probably appropriate to send a message. Maybe it is in the best long-term interests to take a step back and withdraw support for Manchin so Democrats can rebuild the party in West Virginia along more progressive lines. Only the people of West Virginia can decide. In the meantime, Democratic fundraisers should direct their donors to Heidi Heitkamp, Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester, and Joe Donnelly and forget Manchin.
