More in Common is an organization that seeks to highlight how much the majority of the country is really in agreement on most issues and that polarization is not as pronounced as it seems.
It is true that there is more that unites us than divides us. Most people want a safe society, responsible government, and responsible progressive programs that take the country forward.
Polarization occurs because of two factors:
1) Obstruction and extremism on the right that abhors inclusiveness and compromise.
2) Disillusionment and nonparticipation (until this date) of some groups (millennials and minority groups) that compose a significant portion of the Democratic Party.
When the majority that favors moving the country forward become active participating citizens, polarization will end.
It is all up to the majority of the people that want the same things. They need to turn out. That is how a real democracy thrives.
