Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders tangled on Social Security yesterday. There are videos out there where Biden discussed freezing federal spendings and making adjustments to the system. Two words Context and where are the words about cuts, I heard freezes and adjustments like raising the retirement age and payroll tax caps. I am very sorry but please remember when social security was first developed for people at age 65 or higher, the average life expectancy in the 1930's was 63. What I hear in these videos are calls for reform to keep the system going. Now social security and Medicare can be strengthened without hurting the middle and lower class by raising the retirement age, means-testing and raising the payroll tax cap on upper earners. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates would be the first people to say they do not need Social Security. Sanders supporters will have to do better than this.
