From Chamber News.
Arizona Republican Senate Nominee Blake Masters, the fringe candidate that wants to take away your Social Security, Medicare, reproductive freedom (which he equates to belonging to a demonic cult,) and right to vote in an easy fashion, has been putting out signs in the neighborhood, asking, quoting Ronald Reagan "Are you better off now than you were two years ago?"
Mr. Masters has a point.
We should be asking "are we better off than we were two years ago?"
With Democratic policies and proposals, the answer is yes.
With Republican policies and proposals, the answer is no.
Ask yourself when considering Democratic policies:
Are we better off with the COVID vaccination and masking program in the American Rescue Plan the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Are we better off with the funds that went toward expanded unemployment assistance, law enforcement, public schools, first responders, $2,000 checks to individuals, and small business assistance the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Are we better off with the proposals to expand voting rights, protect reproductive freedom, and safeguard Same Sex Marriage that the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress propose while most Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Are we better off with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that will help modernize, expand and rebuild the country's bridges, roads, railroads, airports, waterways, water pipes, electric grid, and broadband that the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while most republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed and then asked for funding after it went into effect?
Yes!
Are we better off with the CHIPS Act that will help revolutionize the nation's semiconductor industry that Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while many Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Are we better off with the Inflation Reduction Act that will reduce prescription costs for Seniors and make major investments in combatting pollution the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while most Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed it?
Yes!
Are we, especially members of law enforcement, better off with the first Gun safety legislation passed in 30 years that the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while many Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Are we better off with the Legislation that will give our veterans that were exposed to toxic burn pits better access to quality health care that the Biden/Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress passed and funded while many Republicans, including Arizona's House Delegation, opposed?
Yes!
Now, consider what Republicans in Arizona have done.
Are we better off with legislation that has made it harder to vote that Doug Ducey and the Republicans in the Arizona State Legislature have passed?
No!
Are we better off with Republican legislators and candidates that incite violence and voter intimidation at domestic terrorist attacks on January 6, 2021, or by fringe Trumpist black shirts at local drop boxes?
No!
Are we better off with spineless Republican leaders who will publicly condone or ignore the many potential crimes of Donald Trump?
No!
Are we better off with spineless (and true believer) Republican leaders, who in a bid to cater to their uninformed reality-challenged base, deny Democracy, Constitutional rights, science, history, and election results while promoting lies about invasions from the other side of the southern border and crime rates where the murder statistics are highest in the states they run?
No!
Is the state's long-term economic prospects better off with the tax cuts for the rich Doug Ducey and the Republicans in the Arizona State Legislature have passed?
No!
Are the state's public schools better off with the Republican-led courts, Doug Ducey, and the Trump Republican Legislators invalidating Invest in Education and passing legislation that could potentially siphon off money from public schools so rich families could pay for their child's private education with working and middle-class taxpayer money?
No!
Are the women in this state better off with the ban on reproductive freedom after 15 weeks that Doug Ducey and the Republican Legislators passed?
No!
Is the water crisis in this State better off when Republican leaders allow the Saudis to pump water like there is no tomorrow to grow alfalfa?
No!
Are the state's children better off when Republican leaders favor banning books, forbidding Trans Athletes from competing, and do not fund an expansion of KidsCare, full-day Kindergarten, or Universal Pre-K?
No!
Voters should be asking the question, are we better off than we were two years ago.
The facts show that with the Democratic leading policies, the answer is yes. With Republicans ones, the answer is no.
While inflation, largely caused by supply chain hiccups from the pandemic, corporate greed, the invasion of Ukraine, and Russian-Saudi manipulation of the oil markets, is a vital concern, voters need to remember that Democrats have been responsibly taking measures to counter its ugly after effects. Republicans have not.
It is time to elect Democrats up and down the ballot on November 8, 2022. They have the solutions that will lift people up and move the state forward.
Put Katie Hobbs, Adrian Fontes, Kris Mayes, Kathy Hoffman, Martin Quezada, Sandra Kennedy, Lauren Kuby, Democratic candidates for the Legislature, Water Board, County Supervisors, and School Boards in positions where they will effectively deal with and protect the Grand Canyon state's economy, water crisis, public schools, public safety, and individual freedoms.
Please remember to turn in your mail-in ballots by November 1, 2022.
If you can not, please remember to turn out and vote by November 8, 2022.
Arizona, the country, and the lives you and your families want to live to depend on it.
