In the three weeks that the Musk/Trump team has been in power, they have succeeded at several initiatives, none of them good.
One constant from all the chaos that the Musk/Trump team has sowed over this period is how much they have made the country and the American People less safe.
Several examples of how they accomplished this come to mind.
First, the blanket pardon of the over 1500 domestic terrorists that stormed the Nation's Capitol on January 6, 2021.
How is that turning out?
Well, one of the pardoned was shot to death after resisting arrest from a police officer. Others are on the run from outstanding arrest warrants not related to the January 6 incident. Republican Senator Lyndsey Graham, in reporting from Newsweek, worries that these pardons will propel extremist militia groups like the Proud Boys to attempt additional attacks on government facilities and the American People.
Not exactly safer than three weeks ago is it.
Then there is the agency gag order imposed by the Musk/Trump Administration on health organizations like the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Federal Drug and Food Administration (FDA) that is preventing them from communicating news to the American People on the spread of the current Bird (Avian) Flu that is spreading across the country throughout farms and infecting other animals like cows, chickens, and cats.
Apparently, the Musk/Trump team feels that what you do not know is better for your safety.
Then there are the Musk/Trump Cabinet and Executive Office selections to fill the Administration. Hardly any of them are qualified. Several are the antithesis to the mission of the department they have been tasked to lead.
Do the majority of the American People really want Robert F. Kennedy Jr, a known anti-vaxer, in charge of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Then there is Kash Patel, the nominee for F.B.I. Director who can not wait to go after Trump's enemies.
How about Putin and Assad loving Tulsi Gabbard at the head of National Intelligence.
Or Pete Hegseth who became Secretary of Defense only after JD Vance had to break a tie whose first order of business was to ram against diversity programs at the Department. Only in MAGA world are words like diversity, equity, and inclusion bad words. Newsflash: Diversity and Unity, unlike Hegseth's rants, do go together.
Then he wanted to spend $50,000 of taxpayer money on a paint job at his house. Did Musk approve?
These "genius" picks along with the Musk/Trump teams desire to compromise United States foreign aid programs like USAID (which will make adversaries like China stronger and the United States weaker) and the Trump proclamation to want to take over Gaza (Republicans never learned from the Middle East debacles they have created like they did in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan) and expel the Palestinians there should not make every American, including those in the military, feel safe and secure.
Then there is all that pushback on Clean Energy Programs contained in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. Nothing to worry about personal safety when people breathe polluted air, walk on contaminated dirt, or swim in dirty water. Nothing at all.
And If you are a member of the LGBTQ community, how do those Executive Orders legitimating bigotry make you feel? Probably not safer.
Finally, there is the Musk-DOGE mission to access the vital personal and private information of every American through the Treasury Departments data base.
Do you really feel safe that Elon Musk and his team of 20 something computer hackers knows everything about you?
Fortunately, a judge, Paul A. Engelmayer, after hearing a lawsuit brought on by 19 State Attorney Generals including Arizona's Kris Mayes, blocked DOGE from accessing the material and demanded that what was retrieved be destroyed.
Mayes reacted to the news with approval, writing in a press release:
"Early this morning we won a court order that blocks Elon Musk, the unelected billionaire attempting an administrative coupe of the federal government, from accessing Arizonans' private personal like your Social Security numbers and Veteran benefit information at the Treasury Department. This is yet another win against the Trump administration as my office works tirelessly to protect Arizonans from the illegal and unconstitutional acts Trump attacks."
Musk responded to the news by calling for the Judges impeachment.
Musk and Trump are making the country less safe be it on who they select to run the government, who they release onto the streets, how they control vital health information, compromising our standing in the world, and accessing our private information.
People should let their representatives in Congress know that this is not what the American Ideal is supposed to be abou
