Reaction to The Musk/Trump/Vance EPA Drive to "Make Polluting Great and Legal Again"

The new motto for the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.,) according to NBC, Dan Rather, and others is to "Make Polluting Great and Legal Again."

Over the last 48 hours, the Trump/Musk/Vance Central Committee, through executive orders and the direction of E.P.A. Director Lee Zeldin, environmental protections have been shoved away, clean energy and anti-pollution grants are being revoked, and the F.B.I. is going after green banks and other grant receipients in McCarthyite fashion for fraud.

Remember the good old days when Republican President Richard Nixon signed the legislation creating the E.P.A.

Remember the good old days when the F.B.I. went after actual criminals and Domestic Terrorists, the ones that now back the current felon in chief occupant in the White House.

According to reporting from Dan Rather:

"The core mission of the EPA, since its inception during the Nixon administration, has been to protect human health and the environment. No longer. Lee Zeldin, the EPA administrator, who, by the way, is a lawyer and former congressman — his only qualification for running the agency is fealty to Trump — said yesterday that the new mission of the agency is to “lower the cost of buying a car, heating a home and running a business.”"

Saying these reversals would "mark the death of the Green New Scam," Zeldin and the Musk/Trump/Vance's Central Committee goals include:

  • Reducing emission standards even though 2024 recorded the lowest emissions on record.
  • Getting rid of the $7500 tax credit to purchase an electric vehicle. Good luck selling that to red districts that are building electric car plants and batteries.
  • Get rid of rules prohibiting soot emitting from coal plants.
  • Helping poor and vulnerable communities deal with polluted areas, and dumping grounds.
  • Do away with the E.P.A.'s 2009 endangerment finding that serves as the basis for most climate change regulations.

Arizona Representative and former Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari, a noted Sustainability specialist who represents part of the Phoenix area, where for the first time in years, heat related deaths, thanks in part to climate and clean change inititaives spearheaded in part by the Congressewoman, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, and others, have gone down, reacted against the EPA moves, posting:

"Yesterday, Trump's handpicked EPA Administrator unveiled his hit list of climate and health protections he is planning to slash, like pollution limits and clean air guidance. This is an attack on all of us and our rights to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and have a livable future all for Republicans to line the pockets of their Big Oil buddies."

Climate Mayors, the organization which Mayor Gallego is currently the chair, issued a press release from its Executive Director Kate Wright that read:

“With this walkback of bedrock laws that keep us safe, the Trump administration is abandoning its pledge to provide for the health and well-being of our communities. The rollback of more than 31 environmental and health protections is a setback to all the great progress local leaders have made in building healthier, cleaner, and safer cities. This only benefits polluters looking for a blank check to keep emitting harmful and toxic chemicals – prioritizing unrestrained greed over the health of the American people.

“Our mayors will remain steadfast in their commitment to the safety of their residents and ensuring everyone can breathe clean air and drink clean water. The proposed rollbacks from the Trump Administration are an intentional effort to create chaos and will result in serious and immediate implications for communities’ health and harm our environment and economy.”

Ansari and Wright are right when they point out that these Musk/Trump/Vance/Zeldin moves "Are an attack on all of us," as the current occupants of the Executive Branch are putting "Unrestrained greed over the health of the American people."

Like Arizona State Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan said in a recent video on water security, "Last time I checked Republicans and Democrats need water."

They need clean water and clean air to while walking on clean, uncotaminated Earth.

Hopefully, the swing voters who gave Trump his victory after believing his lies on the economy and immigration, will come to realize that an
