It is a shame that it would take 18 school shootings to galvanize the youth in our country and galvanize it has. It is now time that the public servants who have resisted sensible attempts at gun reform ranging from a longer background and waiting to purchase periods to raising the age to buy assault weapons paid heed to the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the populace. At the very least, they should support renovating schools and make them safer so it would be harder for shooters to break in and inflict the carnage they are capable of doing. The time for talk is over. Now is the time to act.
