Idea of the Week: Campaign Finance and Lobbying Reform
This week's Idea of the Week is a reiteration of one presented earlier. The campaign finance system needs to be reformed and shifted to a publicly funded one. Too long, members of both parties have proven susceptible to the highest bidder in terms of campaign donations. It is time to put those days to an end and to publicly fund all primary and general election campaigns. This coupled with lobbying reform where laws are put in place to shield our public servants from lobbyists overtures will make ours a better and more bipartisan system where compromise and sound public policy reemerge on a consistent basis.
