Idea of the Week: Do not arm teachers; hire more counselors and school psychologists
After interviewing several local and state Democratic candidates in Arizona over the last four months, there is one hundred percent unanimity on several ideas of school safety. These include investing in more school counselors and psychologists for local schools so they can prevent potential tragedies from happening by intervening when problems first arise. The candidates are also all united in finding the idea of arming teachers ludicrous. It would be better to spend money on actual school supplies and reducing class sizes than equipping teachers with weapons.
