Texas to the Biden/Harris Administration: Please Save Us from Ourselves

 In another sign of Republican Hypocrisy in the pandemic, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the state Chief Executive who has boasted that he beat President Joe Biden in court over COVID 19 vaccine mandates (stay tuned for what the Supreme Court says on the matter,) is asking the Biden/Harris Administration for help in sending Coronavirus testing supplies and treatments.

Over the last week, Coronavirus cases (mainly the Omicron variant) have surged in Texas.

That the Texas Governor has not mandated mask wearing or vaccinations in his state should not be lost on the readers of why the situation in the Lone Star State is probably worse than it could be if Mr. Abbott had followed the science, and not the opinion polls of his fringe base.

In a statement posted on social media last week, Mr. Abbott blamed the Biden Administration for curtailing vital COVID 19 treatment supplies to Texas.

On New Years Eve last week, the Texas Governor issued another statement, asking for federal assistance, relaying:

"Detecting COVID-19 and preventing COVID-related hospitalizations are critical to our fight against this virus. While the Biden administration has cut supplies of monoclonal antibody treatments and testing kits when they are needed most, the State of Texas is urging the federal government to step up in this fight and provide the resources necessary to help protect Texans. Testing sites, additional medical staff, and continued shipments of therapeutics from the federal government will help us continue to save lives and mitigate the spread of COVID-19."

How about mandating masks and vaccines for Texas residents as being critical to the fight against the Coronavirus?

Let us see what the fact checkers say about Abbott's claim that the Biden/Harris Administration cut treatment and testing supplies to Texas.

In the meantime, while the federal government should give Texas what it needs to get out of the health mess their leaders created, Republican Governors like Abbott and Doug Ducey in Arizona should adopt mandated policies that will mitigate and stem the rising COVID 19 infection rates due to Omicron and future variants that will come.

The time for these Republican Governors to act for the safety of all their citizens is now.
