Below is a link to an interesting editorial from Fareed Zakaria on the spread of Islamic Extremism. While this is very illuminating, what it misses is the connection that extremism, be it populism or religious zealotry has been on the rise around the globe for years. The common factors appear to center around political and economic corruption along with a rise in inequality. Our leaders need to realize that when people lose hope, they fall for false prophets who promise salvation. Our leaders need to make it possible for all people's to fulfill their hopes and live decent lives
