The Old Guard vs New Blood

The article below generated some back and forth on a face book page that I administer. The argument put forth by former party chairperson Howard Dean is that it is time for a new generation of Progressive and Democratic leaders to take the banner of the party and lead the way in future elections. While it is true that current Presidential frontrunners Hillary Clinton (yes the person who won the popular vote should get another shot if she wants), Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and Bernie Sanders are in their social security years, the members of the progressive movement should not shy away from them if they win the Democratic Nomination in 2020. We should also not feel bad if someone like Kamela Harris, Kiresten Gillebrand,  Amy Kochbachler, Martin O'Malley, Corey Booker, Deval Patrick, Tim Kaine, Terry McAulliufe, Mark Warner, Sherrod Brown, or Tom Vilsack earn the nominaton. The point is, unlike the other major political party, we have a lot of qualified and competent people with the temperant to be a good steward, leader, and mover of or nation.
