In the wake of the horrific shooting events plaguing our country, there are three ideas to consider. These are:
1) Reinstituting the ban on assault weapons. It was wrong when the George W. Bush Administration let it lapse.
2) Promote a gun buyback program where we offer people money to buy their weapons.
3) Reform the background check process where it will take a month to pass a thorough background check and also register the weapon that the person wants to purchase. No more loopholes will be allowed at gun shows.
Will all these ideas stop all of these horrific events from repeating themselves in other parts of the country? In most cases, probably. The implementation of these ideas will reduce the number of these tragedies and save many lives but we should also recognize that it is impossible to prevent all acts committed by these deranged individuals. Like the revelations from the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed, human error will occasionally occur. It is unfortunate but we should also expect it. Furthermore, shooters like the one at Newtown will just use weapons that are inherited from relatives. Finally, there will still be fanatics that think the second amendment is the second commandment and will not obey any law that goes against their zealous views and sell to any individual, mentally stable or otherwise.
