Is this really the civics lesson we want our children to learn?

The Republicans have shown that they are not after truth by their actions leading up to the September 27th  "hearing" where Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh will testify on accusations that the Supreme Court Nominee engaged in uncalled for sexual advances over 30 years ago.

The Republicans would have been smart to have had a thorough investigation conducted by the F.B.I., especially now that other accusations have surfaced.

Instead, their lust and ambition to have a conservative majority on the Supreme Court despite the wishes of the majority of our citizens have led them to:

a) Twist Senate rules and protocols by not ensuring that all of the nominee's writings were released prior to the hearings.

b) Not subpoena or call additional witnesses to the September 27 hearing that would add crucial information to the accusations being put forth.

c) Not bother to return calls or attend phone conferences from the legal representatives of the two other accusers.

d) Schedule a committee vote on September 28 to vote on Judge Kavanaugh's nomination.

e) Conduct a smear campaign against the accusers and encourage tribalism to the extent that even their own Senators and their families are getting physical threats.

Republicans would have done better to not rush this in a race to confirm before the midterms. Their refusal to have the F.B.I. investigate when there is ample precedent for such a procedure leaves the obvious impression that they know their nominee is not the "choir boy" he presents himself to be and there is credibility to the accusations. They have no shame and they are willing to put a second Supreme Court Nominee on the high court with an apparent checkered past.

Is this really the civics lesson we want our children to learn.
