Yes, the Death Penalty should be abolished.

The Death Penalty is an ineffective, unjust, and inconsistent form of punishment.

It is ineffective as a deterrent because homicides still occur.

It is unjust because an innocent person occasionally gets executed for a crime he/she did not commit. You do not get do over's when an innocent person is executed. Thank God DNA tests have been able to prove some of the people on death row innocent.

It is inconsistent because:
a) not all states have the penalty
b) the states that have it have different standards for who gets the ultimate penalty from the others.
c) the people that wind up on death row vary according to ethnicity or wealth.

The Death Penalty is an ineffective, unjust, and inconsistent form of punishment.
