To the American People
Do not be fooled when Republicans in Congress start preaching, especially in the middle of a pandemic and economic downtown, that fiscal austerity and taming the national debt are prudent economic strategies for the country.
Where has this worry about the debt been for the whole Trump Presidency?
Where was it during the Presidency of George W, Bush?
Where was it during the Presidency of Ronald Reagan?
There were no Republican concerns about the debt when large tax cuts and defense expenditures were possible.
As columnists on this Blog and others like Paul Krugman of the New York Times and Paul Waldman of the Washington Post have written, Republicans are full of it on the national debt. The only time their leaders crawl out and preach about deficit reduction is when a Democrat is in the White House. That is their way of justifying screwing the American People across the country from needed funding in:
- Education.
- Health Care.
- Protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Food Security
- Environmental Protection.
- Anti Poverty Measures.
- Infrastructure.
The only reason most Republicans care about passing approximately a trillion dollars(including a meager level of direct payments to people) in COVID relief is to save those two Georgia Senate seats in the January runoff elections.
As Krugman said in the headline of his recent op-ed, Republicans are phonies on the issue of deficit reduction.
Democrats, as Waldman wrote in his December 17, 2020 column, need to learn the lessons from the Clinton and Obama years and not fall into the fiscal austerity trap again. They need to prioritize the needs of the American People first and then focus on deficit reduction later.
Remember the national debt and deficit have only gone down in recent history under Democratic Presidents.
Republicans are also full of it on the issue of character.
After looking the other way on whatever Donald Trump or his unhinged Trump Zone cult followers have said and done, Republican men are aghast that Biden appointees Neera Tanden and Biden Campaign Manager/ Incoming Chief of Staff Jennifer O'Malley Dillon used bad words in describing Republicans in tweets.
What bull fecal matter.
Do not gag me.
Again, where was this Republican outrage when Trump and his minions made worse comments?
Where were the Republican comments condemning The Wall Street Journal and Tucker Carlson for belittling Dr. Jill Biden for the Doctorate she received.
People need to remember that Republicans are power-hungry hypocrites who care nothing about the people below the top one percent and use division, lies, and racist dog whistles to pursue minority Republican rule.
Do not fall for their fecal matter when Joe Biden becomes President on January 20, 2021.
