President Biden on COVID Vaccinations: "Let's get the Job Done"

President Joe Biden, in a quick briefing to reporters and the American People, highlighted both the progress that has been made in administering COVID 19-Coronavirus vaccinations and what still needs to be done, primarily among young people and in states that did not vote for him.

The President touted the numbers of Coronavirus vaccinations administered with a 70 percent injection rate in most subgroups of the American People like the elderly and adults over the age of 27.

He also relayed that 160 million Americans (nearly half the country) will be fully vaccinated by the end of the week.

Mr. Biden also noted that COVID 19 cases and deaths are down by 90 percent since January, millions are returning to the pre-pandemic living, small businesses are reopening, people are going back to work, and projected economic growth may be the highest since the 1980s.

"The bottom line," the President said "is the virus is on the run and America is coming back..coming back together."

He then thanked the American People for making "one of the greatest achievements in American History...happen."

"Our fight against this virus is not over..."

Mr. Biden then pivoted and explained to the People that more needs to be done to vanquish the virus and its more transmittable variants like the Delta one (which Biden said was responsible for half the new COVID 19 cases in parts of the nation.)

The President cited the problem of millions of Americans not getting vaccinated, thereby jeopardizing themselves, their families, friends, and local communities.

He singled out those under 27 who thought no harm would come to them by not getting the vaccine.

Mr. Biden wisely did not cite that most of these unvaccinated citizens are in states that voted for Donald Trump in the last election.

The President called on those who have not been vaccinated to "get vaccinated now. It's free. It works and it's never been easier to get and it's never been more important..."

The President then outlined several steps that the Administration would do to help get people vaccinated by going "community to community, neighborhood to neighborhood" including:

  • Expanding the number of local pharmacies (42,000 of them) that can administer the vaccinations.
  • Delivering vaccinations to local family physicians and health care providers people, especially younger ones, are comfortable with and trust.
  • Meet people where they are including at a person's workplace.
  • Sending out more mobile vaccination clinics.
  • The creation of COVID 19 surge response teams to help in states where surges occur in low vaccination communities.

The President closed by stating:

"His administration was doing all it can...but we need everyone to do their part...we have to keep it up, we have to keep it up until we're finished...we are emerging into a summer of hope and joy...we can't get complacent now. The best thing you can do to protect yourself and your family...is to get vaccinated...You can do this. You can do this. Let's finish the job. Finish it together."

It is time for the people in these low-vaccinated counties to think of others around them and get vaccinated.
