Democrats are the Party that will Put the American People First

In remarks to the White House Press Corp before meeting 600 United States Olympic athletes, President Joe Biden again reminded the American People that it is the Democratic Party that is the political organ that promotes policies reduce the deficit, hold government accountable helping/lifting individuals up, and putting the American People first.

On Reducing the debt, the President said:

"...My administration released new information that contains that we’re on track to cut the federal deficit by another — another $1.5 trillion by the end of this fiscal year — the biggest decline in a single year ever in American history. And the biggest decline on top of us having a $350 billion drop in the deficit last year, my first year as President.

We also learned that for the first time since 2016, the Treasury Department is planning to pay down the national debt issued to the public this quarter. And for all the talk that Republicans make about deficits, it didn’t happen a single quarter under my predecessor. Not once..."

Putting this in proper historical perspective, the deficits went up under Republicans Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II as well. The only times the deficit has gone down is under Democrats Clinton, Obama, and now Biden.

On government accountability, the President offered:

"...And in my administration, those watchdogs are back.  The Justice Department has a chief prosecutor for pandemic fraud who is going to go after the criminals who stole billions — billions in relief money meant for small businesses and American families but never got to them — got in the pockets of criminals..."

On putting the American People first and lifting them up, Mr. Biden relayed:

"When I came to office, we took a different approach across the board. With the American Rescue Plan and other actions, we started to grow the economy from the bottom up and the middle out: rescue checks and tax cuts for working families that gave them just a little bit of breathing room and put food on the table and a roof over their heads.

Remember the first year — all those long lines of automobiles lined up and going through a parking lot just to get a box of food in their trunk? Those — all that — we put — we got vaccine shots in arms that helped us go from 2 million Americans who had been vaccinated to more than 220 million Americans fully vaccinated.

And we made it easier for millions of Americans to sign up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act, saving them an average of $2,400 a year.

As a result of these and other economic recovery plans, we recovered faster than projected. A record 6.7 million jobs created last year — the most in the first year of any president in American history, and the fastest economic growth in any year in nearly four decades. And, looking ahead, I have a plan to reduce the deficit even more, which will help reduce inflationary pressures and lower everyone’s costs for families..."

The President then reminded the American People that his plan includes:

• Caping the price of insulin at $35.00
• Clean Energy tax credits like for purchasing an electric vehicle or installing a solar panel.
• Raising taxes on Americans making more than $400,000 a year.

The President then went after the Republicans for their tried and failed policy prescriptions, calling them the Ultra-MAGA Agenda, including the ones proposed by Florida Senator Rick Scott, stating:

"...And that’s in sharp contrast to what today’s Republican Party is offering. And if I — and if they hadn’t put this in print, you’d think I was making it up.

Senator Rick Scott of Florida, a United States senator who is leading the Republican National Senatorial Campaign Committee, released what he calls the “Ultra-MAGA Agenda.” It’s a MAGA agenda all right.

Let me tell you about this Ultra-MAGA Agenda. It’s extreme, as most MAGA things are. It will actually raise taxes on 75 million American families, over 95 percent of whom make less than $100,000 a year.

Among the hardest hit: working families, kids with folks. Imagine you’re a family of four and you don’t pay — you don’t make enough money to have federal taxes. You’re not technically — because you don’t — you don’t make enough money to pay them. You pay all your taxes, but you — you just don’t make enough.

And under this new plan, this tax plan — the Ultra-MAGA Agenda — while big corporations and billionaires are going to pay nothing more, the working-class folks are going to pay a hell of a lot more."

Arizona Representative Andy Biggs offers his America First Contract

If the American People are nauseated with what Rick Scott and the Republicans at the Senate level, they should get a whiff out of what January 6, 2021 Domestic Terrorist collaborator-traitor Andy Biggs is proposing.

Earlier this week, the Arizona Congressional District Five "Representative" released an America First Contract.

This is a play on words with the Republican Contract with America from 1994.

History has shown how well that played out for the American People.

In this new extreme MAGA document (please click here to review,) Biggs, who is working hard to avoid appearing before the January 6 Committee,) lays out the Rep...Fascist vision for keeping poor and middle class citizens down. Among the preposterous ideas laid out by Biggs are:

• Cutting rules and regulations (like the ones that keep the air we breath and the water we drink safe.)
• Completing the border wall.
• Ending the indoctrination of children in schools (does not happen unless you are attending a private sectarian institution which Republicans rave about, especially the ones that profess the Christian faith)
• Holding federal officials accountable for disobeying laws. All he has to do is look in the mirror to find one of those people.
• Voter Suppression.
• Removing the woke policies that have weakened the military. Say what?
• Go after those (mainly Democrats) that are going after the instigators and participants of January 6, 2021 like him and his friends Paul Gosar and Mo Brooks.

Reacting to Bigg's "contract," the Democrat running in CD-5 to unseat him, Javier Ramos, responded:

"Congressman Biggs' America First Contract is big on rhetoric and short on pragmatic actions.  Congressman Biggs conveniently forgets that we already have an America First Contract and that is the Constitution of the United States and that we are all bound by the tenents of our Constitution and that we should uphold our Constitution. 

 

Biggs can do us all a favor and himself by testifing before the January 6 Select Committee investigating whether Biggs was involved in participating in planning meetings both in person at the White House and remotely, regarding various aspects of planning for the events leading up to January 6th. According to various news sources, the January 6 Select Committee wants to understand precisely what Biggs knew before the violence on January 6, 2021, about the purposes, planning, and expectations for the march on the Capitol. Biggs has declined to meet with the Select Committee.

 

Biggs "America First Contract" should be more aptly named "Biggs First, America Second."

Remember when the Republicans promised they would work for the American People and enact policies that would lift them up if they were entrusted with power in 1994?

How did that turn out?

Remember when the Republicans repeated that promise in 2010, 2014, and 2016?

The American People are still waiting for the Republicans to work for the American People and enact policies that will lift them up.

All they have seen are Republican legislative and judicial plans that cater to the needs of the ultra wealthy, wreck the environment in favor of corporate profits, bring the lower and middle class people down, suppress Democracy, and restrict women, minority, and LGBTQ rights.

The members of the former party of Lincoln do not offer a forward mission for the United States.

Joe Biden, Javier Ramos, and most informed Americans in both major political parties know this.

It is time for the rest of the populace to get a clue and not buy the Republican snake oil again.

Democrats have demonstrated for over a century that they are the party that will put the American People first.
