"Give Biden a Break"

As the January 6 hearings have continuously reminded the American People, Donald Trump was a disaster for the nation and the American People.

Why then, does his successor, a person who, along with his team, has tirelessly worked to undo the damage of the previous administration and steer the country forward, suffer with approval ratings in the high 30's/low 40's.

President Joe Biden has:

  • Restored honor, decency, and, yes, competence to the Presidency.
  • Not, unlike his predecessor, embroiled the county in endless, almost daily scandals.
  • Launched and overseen the largely successful  COVID 19 vaccination efforts.
  • Presided over the passage of the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan (which Mr. Trump could not get,) and the first bipartisan gun control legislation in 30 years. There is a chance that a Prescription Drug Benefit and an innovation act that will help the semiconductor industry will be coming.
  • Brought the country back into a positive standing around the world.
  • Defended Democracy by leading the efforts to support Ukraine against Russia and advocating the protection and enhancement of voting rights in this country.
  • Took American forces out of Afghanistan after 20 years.
  • Took steps to alleviate hardships when unforeseen developments occurred like when shortages of baby formula occurred.
  • Appointed a record number of federal judges.
  • Advanced policies and programs that promote education and green sustainability.
  • Spoken on the need for Congress to codify a woman's right to choose.

As a previous article I wrote pointed out: Jobs are up and gas prices are falling.

Now has everything that Democratic and Progressive activists wanted been achieved?

Has the Biden/Harris Administration and the Democratic Congress been perfect and delivered on all of their promises

No, but after the calamity that was the Trump/Pence Administration, the thing to do is build on what the Biden/Harris Administration and Democratic Congress has achieved, support them (unless they break the law and promote ideas that will not work,) and vote more candidates in that will provide the margins in supporting the Democratic/Progressive agenda like measures to:

  • Provide Universal Pre-K.
  • Codify Roe v Wade.
  • Raise the National Minimum Wage.
  • Safeguard Voting Rights.
  • Hopefully advance more gun control measures.

As Washington Post Columnist Dana Milbank headlined in a recent piece: "Give Biden a break!"

When people vote this November, they need to remember which President and political party is working to move the country forward, lift people up, and protect freedom.

Just because Joe Biden may not be the dream President from the movies (actually, he kind of reminds me of Henry Fonda who played a President in a couple of productions) or the Progressives vision for a savior, it does not mean he has not done a good job.

His performance is definitely more deserving of an approval rating in the high 30's/low 40's.

As the Enlightenment Philosopher Voltaire reportedly stated, "Do not let the perfect be the enemy of the good."
