"Here's the Deal:" The Biden/Harris Jobs Recovery is Still Going Strong and Gas Prices are Dropping

To quote the President of the United States: "Here's the deal."

The June Jobs Report, defying expectations, showed a creation of approximately 372,000 positions.

And by the way, gas prices are falling.

In a statement from the White House, President Biden relayed:

"Today, we learned that our private sector has recovered all of the jobs lost during the pandemic, and added jobs on top of that. This has been the fastest and strongest jobs recovery in American history, and it would not have been possible without the decisive action my Administration took last year to fix a broken COVID response, and pass the American Rescue Plan to get our economy back on track.

In the second quarter of this year, we created more jobs than in any quarter under any of my predecessors in the nearly 40 years before the pandemic. We have more Americans working in the private sector today than any day during Donald Trump’s Presidency – more people than any time in our history.

The historic strength of our job market is one reason our economy is uniquely well positioned to tackle a range of global economic challenges – from global inflation to the economic fallout from Putin’s war. No country is better positioned than America to bring down inflation, without giving up all of the economic gains we have made over the last 18 months.

Of course, having added a record number of new jobs, and achieved historically low levels of unemployment, additional job growth from this strong position will be slower. That is not a bad thing, because our economy should move to stable growth for the years ahead.

The best way to achieve that goal is for Congress to pass legislation that lowers costs for families – from prescription drugs to utility costs – while reducing the federal budget deficit, in addition to passing the Bipartisan Innovation Act."

What is that sound you hear?

That is the sound of Republican plutocrats wetting themselves that there is no Biden/Harris recession, inflation is showing signs of losing momentum, and the voters are looking to defeat any candidate that fanatically or gingerly supports:

  • a demented gun owners rights over public safety.
  • a ten year child being forced to carry her rapists child.
  • banning books in public schools.
  • discrimination against the LGBTQ Community.
  • a manic devotion to twice impeached, attempted election thief, and KKK endorsed Donald Trump.
  • Measures to suppress personal freedoms like individual voting rights.

That is really not much of an inclusive moving forward platform for members of the former Party of Lincoln to run on in any election cycle.

2022 is not a referendum on the Biden/Harris Administration who has continually, unlike the Republicans, worked for ways to lift people up, advance personal freedoms, and move the country forward.

2022, as pundits like Matthew Dowd have said, is a referendum on the autocratic-anti freedom-apartheid fanaticism the Republicans are attempting to foist on the country.

Democratic and Progressive leaning voters need to act like this is 1998 and 2002 when the party in the White House defied midterm expectations and their party turned out to defeat the opposition forces.

They also need to learn from history on what happens when they do not turn out.

In 1968, some Democrats were not totally happy with their nominee, Vice President Hubert Humphrey. As a result, Richard Nixon eked out a narrow victory at the polls.

Everyone remembers how well that turned out for the country with Watergate.

In 1980, many Democrats were disenchanted with Jimmy Carter and paved the way for Ronald Reagan, the fringe candidate of his time, to become President and set the course for the gradual weakening of many social justice initiatives that Democrats had passed during the Great Society and War on Poverty era of the Johnson/Humphrey Administration.

In 2000, many Democrats thought Ralph Nader was preferable to Vice President Al Gore. The result was the election of popular vote loser George W. Bush whose incompetence brought the nation 9/11, the war in Iraq, the Great Recession, and the appointment of Roe v Wade overturn author Samuel Alito.

In 2010, many Democrats did not think Barack Obama was doing enough to fulfill his promises and allowed the Republicans and their Tea Party zealots to take over the House of Representatives. Good job.

In 2016, many Democrats either thought Hillary Clinton was a shoe in for victory and either stayed home or voted for Jill Stein (a dinner guest of Putin along with Michael Flynn) because they liked her Bernie Sanders style program more. That attitude allowed KKK endorsed and womanizing Donald Trump to win a narrow Electoral College Victory which resulted in massive tax cuts for the rich, the poor management of the COVID 19 pandemic, and the appointment of three Supreme Court Justices who voted against gun control and a woman's right of privacy and choice.

Again, paraphrasing  President Biden's words. "Here's the deal," Democrats need to remember to vote and not repeat the mistakes of not turning out as they did in past elections.

If that happens, as history shows, the candidates not best to lead the country win, the people suffer, and the nation moves backward.

Democrats: Do not repeat history this midterm.

2022 is a referendum on Republicans moving to take away your freedoms and rights.

Turn out and vote on November 8, 2022.
