People who serve the public like law enforcement, teachers, and the Peace Corp currently can take advantage of a program called the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This program allows the remaining balance of student loans to be forgiven if the individuals have been making on time payments for ten years. According to various sources, that program is in danger of at least being reduced in favor of programs promoting greater school choice (particularly school voucher programs where affluent families can take tax dollars to pay for their private (in some cases) religious educations. This is poor prioritizing and equally shameful coming from an administration whose leader has made a history of willfully "shafting" vendors in and outside of the bankruptcy courts. Let's hope Congress does not allow this to happen.
