Progressive Idea of the Week: A Living Wage for Everyone

It is good news that at the state level, minimum wages have gone up in the last two elections. However, raising the minimum wage does not ensure that everyone has a living wage. In fact, a single person or even a married couple could probably never make ends meet if all they had was the federal minimum wage. People and the economy need living wage legislation enacted so our middle class can grow and our economic growth can thrive. Furthermore, do not listen to those naysayers that say adopting a living wage will cause an economic downtown. They have never been right and recent wage increases to $15.00 an hour in San Francisco, Seattle, and Los Angeles are proving them wrong again.
