Want to punish the opposition. Pass legislation that adversely affects districts that are dominated by members of the other political party. That happened in North Carolina a couple of days ago with the Republican State Legislature. Let's see if the Democratic Governors likely veto of that legislation is sustained.
White Supremacists marching in Virginia to protest the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee chanting "Russia is our friend. The irony here is that Lee was not a white supremacist and supported educational opprtunities for freed slaves. Furthermore, his career did not involve contacts with Russia.
The White House Budget Director gives the partially inaccurate line that people with diabetes should not get subsidized health care because they caused their own problem with poor eating habits. As the Think Progress article below states: So much for compassionate conservatism.
The President and his team may have been involved in "treasonous" activity involving collusion with the Russians in last year's elections but most of his supporters are convinced this is "fake news." This is largely the same group of supporters who thought Hillary and Bill Clinton killed people and Barrack Obama was not an American Citizen. If ever there was a case for increased education dollars to go towards the social studies, this is it.
This is a very dark side to conservatism and it is not appealing. It should not be encouraged or allowed to fester.
