Books of the Week
Historical Fiction, when read studiously, can be just as historically insightful as non fiction works. Such are the products of James Michener whose historical fiction books like Centennial, Space, and Texas help readers become historically educated in the areas being written while being thoroughly entertained. This weeks Books of the Week accurately depict parts of the Middle East and should give readers an appreciation for the current events occurring in those areas. The first work is The Source which gives a history of the Jewish people. The second is Caravans which is a description of Afghanistan society following World War Two. By reading these works, the reader may get an understanding of those areas of the world.
