What did the President do on this Friday the 13th that made our country weaker and less safe?
He cut off subsidies to health insurance companies. Those subsidies helped poor and lower middle class citizens afford health insurance. Eventually, their insurance or those of the solid or upper middle class will go up to cover the rising costs. That will hurt several million people and probably the economy.
He decided to, for no good reason< decertify the Nuclear Agreement with Iran which probably will not result in anything catastrophic because Congress is not stupid enough to get rid of it on their end. However, this move, like pulling out of the Paris Agreement, not following through on TPP, and threatening to pull out of NAFTA makes our nation more isolated and less prosperous in the long term.
Oh and it is now 13 days since C.H.I.P. has expired for poor children and Congress has not renewed it yet.
And 85 percent of Puerto Rico is still without power. A cynic might start to think, that in a move outlined in Naomi Klein's book Shock Capital, the elites are stalling the relief efforts so most of the locals will move off the island so they can take it over for themselves. Probably just an overactive imagination on this writer part. Probably.
