Senator Susan Collins just won a new term representing the people of Maine.
She has been the Chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
She might be a good selection for Secretary of the Homeland Security Department.
North Carolina Senator Richard Burr has decided he will not run for reelection in 2022. Up until recently (he has encountered some ethical issues with regards to insider training,) he was the Chairperson of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
He may be a good selection for the Director of National Intelligence.
Pennsylvania's Pat Toomey also announced he is not running for reelection in 2022.
A Devout Catholic, he may be a good selection to become the Ambassador to the Vatican.
Why would Joe Biden appoint these three Republicans to these positions?
First, because he said he would appoint Republicans to serve in his administration.
Second, all three Republicans serve in states led by Democratic Governors.
If this idea were to become a reality, then the Democratic Governors would appoint Democrats to replace all three Republicans.
Take away three from the Republican column and add three to the Democratic Column and you get a Senate run by the Democrats.
Admittingly, this is probably a fantasy but perhaps it is an idea that should be considered.
