President Biden Calls for All Americans to Become Eligible to Receive Vaccinations by May 1, 2021

Approaching the White House Podium wearing a mask, President Joe Biden called on all Americans to band together to combat the Coronavirus as he announced that all adults in the country will be eligible to schedule vaccination appointments by May 1, 2021.

Praising American Resilence while Mourning American Loss

Saying "finding light in the darkness is a very American thing to do," the President praised the many front-line workers who risked their lives to help the American People. He also saluted the research scientists that developed the three COVID 19 vaccinations.

He also took several moments to acknowledge the great suffering many Americans have faced like the loss of :

  • 527,726 loved ones (more than World War One, World War Two, Vietnam, and 9/11 combined.
  • Jobs.
  • Small businesses.
  • Homes.
  • Learning in School.
  • Seeing family members
  • Major life events like graduations, birthdays, weddings, and first dates.
  • Faith in Government.
  • Hope.

Mr. Biden also lamented the violent racist attacks on Asian Americans and the hysteria among fringe groups regarding mask-wearing.

Both of the above reactionary, barbaric, and violent developments could rightly be blamed on the Trump Administration whom President Biden chastised because their pandemic mismanagement and  "silence and denials" with regards to the Coronavirus "led to more deaths and stress."

What the Biden/Harris Administration has done since taking office on January 20, 2021.

Repeating that "the only way to get life back on track is to beat the virus,"  President Biden outlined all the steps his Administration has taken to improve on COVID 19 Vaccine development, supply, and distribution from the Trump/Pence team (which to be fair did launch Operation Warp Speed to develop the Coronavirus Vaccine.)

These steps included:

  • Invoking the Defense Production Act to produce enough Coronavirus vaccines so that every American adult can schedule a vaccination appointment on May 1, 2021.
  • Supplying 10,000 pharmacies with vaccines to administer to the people.
  • Opening 600 federal shot centers.
  • Providing Mobile vehicles to meet people in most vulnerable areas.
  • Providing at-home testing.

Mr. Biden said, that as a result of the steps his Administration has taken:

  • 65 percent of people over 65 received their first vaccine.
  • 70 percent of people over 75 received their first vaccine.
  • The goal of 100 million vaccines in 100 days looks like it will be accomplished in 60. To be fair, most people realized in February that the goal would be achieved well before the one-hundredth day of the Biden/Harris Administration.

Moving Forward.

The President also outlined the next steps in combatting the Coronavirus and bringing normalcy back to life in the country. These included:

  • As mentioned earlier, all states, tribes, and territories will allow adults to schedule a vaccination appointment by  May 1, 2021.
  • Providing new tools to make it easier to find the vaccine.
  • With the passage of the American Rescue Plan and announcement of mass vaccination of teachers, staff, and bus drivers, reopen most K-8 schools after the 100th day of the Biden/Harris Administration.
  • Publicizing further guidance on what you can do after you have been vaccinated.
  • "Needing every American to do their part. Get vaccinated when it is your turn. Wear masks and socially distance. We need to stay united as a nation. If we don’t stay vigilant, we may have to reinstate restrictions and we don’t need to do that again. Now is not the time to not stick with the rules."

The President concluded this portion of the address by stating by July 4, a good chance for people to get together in small groups to celebrate Independence Day and “mark independence from this virus.”

The President urges Caution and expresses Hope for the Future.

Mr. Biden reminded viewers that conditions, like new COVID 19 variants can change things for the worse.

He urged Americans to listen to the scientists like Dr. Fauci.

He implored them to take vaccines, saying they are safe, and proving that by citing that he and Vice President Kamala Harris took theirs publicly.

He appealed to them to still wear masks and social distance.

He also discussed the many positive features of the Democratically passed American Rescue Plan and how the plan components will help the people overcome the socio-economic stranglehold of the pandemic. These features he mentioned included:

  • Cash payments to qualifying Americans.
  • Extending unemployment.
  • Keeping families in homes.
  • Putting food on the table.
  • Funding all the steps to combat the virus.
  • Assisting small businesses.

The President concluded his speech expressing optimism of overcoming this pandemic and moving forward, commenting:

  • "There is hope and light and better days ahead.”
  • "We would have proved that we could do big things and better things."
  • "We are bound by the hope and possibilities of the days in front of us."
  • "I believe history will show we overcame this period."
  • "This is the United States of America and there’s nothing we can’t do together."
  • "Always bet on the American people. Never bet against them when we put our minds to it."
