Universal Health Care should not be about every person for themselves.

Universal Health Care should not be about every person for themselves. It should not be about charging people more for care if they are poorer, older, and sicker. Yet that is precisely what will happen if the Republican-American Health Care Act becomes law.  What is scarier is that there are a group of Congresspersons in both the House and Senate that thinks this proposal is just Obamacare Lite. Who elects these people would be my first question considering the ironic twist that most people hurt by this proposal or the more conservative ideas are the very people that voted for Donald Trump.

If we can not get Medicare for all, Obamacare is the best thing in town. If we go with Speaker Ryan and his supporters attitude that if people want it, they will buy it, premiums will skyrocket because only the sick and elderly will continue to pay monthly. The poor will become hit and miss if Medicaid becomes a block grant and Governors readjust eligibility depending on their state. Obamacare, while not perfect, addressed this with the mandate where people will get penalized if they do not get insurance. The Republicans have something like this but it applies mostly to people who do not pay their insurance for a while. In essence, premiums will go up on everyone who consistently pays to cover those who can not consistently pay.

If the government makes people get car insurance, they should make them get health insurance so people who obey the system do not get the costs shifted to us. It should not be about every person for themselves.
