A lot of criticism was hurled at Bernie Sanders for continually commenting during the Presidential Campaign how other nations, particularly the Scandinavian ones, have it right in terms of their social safety net and economic policies. While the below link to the article from Bloomberg regarding the economics of Sweden should not be taken as total gospel, it does illustrate how progressive taxation and social policies have largely benefited the Swedish populace. That does not mean capitalism is dead. It means that you can have a free market but with a larger commitment towards social justice. It is not a coincidence that the best economic performance in recent history has occurred mostly during Administrations that recognize this.
