The Height of Bombastic Irresponsible Behavior: Saying a Government Shutdown can be a "Good Thing."

This President is the gift that keeps on giving. Upset that the Democrats celebrated the recent budget spending agreement as a victory for their priorities (And for the southern border wall not getting funded), the President, in remarks and tweets said that the Senate filibuster should be done away with and a government shutdown would be a "good thing." The President's logic is probably that the Democrats would get blamed if such a shutdown occurred.  Nothing could be further from the truth for two reasons. First, the President gave Democrats the gift of saying a shutdown would be a good thing. People are going to tie that quote around the President forever if a shutdown actually occurs. Second, as Hillary Clinton reminded us in an interview on CNN yesterday, the President's spending priorities are not the priorities of the majority of the American People. There is no popular mandate for his policies. It is not like he lost the popular vote by one vote. He lost it by close to three million. It is odd that he wants to do away with the filibuster tradition in the Senate and yet he owes his Presidency to the outdated Electoral College, an apparatus he once favored doing away with. Saying a government shutdown is a good thing is the height of bombastic irresponsible behavior. Let us hope Trump supporters will eventually keep score and have a change of heart.
