Why was Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey unceremoniously fired yesterday? He may have deserved it given questions of public conduct over the last several months but it is probably prudent to suspect ulterior motives on the part of the Administration. The letter from the Assistant Attorney General mentions his handling of the Clinton email scandal. This is probably true from the standpoint that the Trump people wanted her charged and prosecuted. Then there is the matter of his wanting more funds to expand his Russian Investigation. Were Trump allies like Paul Manafort and Rudy Giuliani (along with his minions in the New York Bureau Field Office) getting worried about what may be uncovered? Was the President angry that the Director said he was "mildly nauseous" that he might have influenced the election (which does not sound like a ringing endorsement of the President.) We need a special investigation led by an independent investigator to finally get to the bottom of the Russian issue and the behavior of the New York Field Office during the election. It is the only way to have confidence in the process.
