Days after accusing Qatar of helping to fund terrorist activities, the United States has concluded a multi-billion arms agreement with that same country. Now it is true that previous administrations have concluded defense deals with terrorist-sponsoring nations in the past. The United States routinely deals with Saudi Arabia whose government has historically funded Wahabi religious education programs that have partially motivated fringe groups (remember most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis) and we released funds to terrorist-sponsoring Iran as a condition of the nuclear program deal. But to sell weapons to a country days after you accuse it openly of funding terrorism. That and previous actions by past administrations potentially sends the wrong signals and is not the way to fight the war on terror.
